Job summary

American SpiralWeld Pipe Company, LLC is seeking a Shipping Operator I to prepare pipe for shipment and perform final repairs before dispatch. You will follow safety rules, consult shipping lists, and interpret pipe finishing and bracing specifications.

You will maintain daily production logs, assist drivers, and perform routine inspections. The role requires reading measurements, cutting wood pieces for bracing, and ensuring proper packaging and placement on trucks or rail cars.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret simple documents and memos.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proficiency with basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to read tape measures and calipers and interpret linear and circumference measurements.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Need to understand and follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
• Willingness to rotate to different positions as requested by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pipes for shipment and perform final repairs before shipping.
• Follow safety policies and suggest safety improvements.
• Determine which pipe is required for shipping from the shipping list and team leader.
• Read and interpret pipe finishing specifications and bracing requirements.
• Maintain and submit the daily production log.
• Assist drivers in positioning components and pipes for shipment.
• Complete daily inspections and submit results.
• Cut and fit wood pieces for stulling/bracing; install as needed.
• Place bracings and end caps on pipes per shipping specs.
• Position bunks on trucks or rail cars and band pipes for transport.
• Perform other tasks as instructed by management.
