American SpiralWeld Pipe Company, LLC is seeking a Shipping Operator I to prepare pipe for shipment and perform final repairs. The role requires reading specifications for finishing and bracing, maintaining daily production logs, and assisting drivers with proper placement of components.

The position emphasizes safety, accuracy in measurement and packing, and the ability to rotate to different tasks as directed by management. Forklift experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to read, write, and interpret simple documents and instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations to employees and leadership.
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Must be able to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
• Must be able to read and interpret linear and circumference measurements using tape measures and calipers.
• Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Must be able to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
• Must have the willingness to rotate to different positions as requested by manager or team leader.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pipe for shipping and perform final repairs.
• Consult with team leader or shipping list to determine required pipes for shipping preparation.
• Read specifications for pipe finishing and bracing.
• Maintain daily production log and submit it daily.
• Assist drivers to position components/pipes properly.
• Complete daily inspections and submit reports.
• Measure wood pieces for stulling or bracing, cut and shape as required for proper fit.
• Place bracings and end caps on pipe as per shipping specs.
• Position bunks on trucks or rail cars and band pipes for shipment.
• Perform other tasks as instructed by management.
