Job Summary:
Performs day to day pipe operations of manufacturing reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) in a safe and efficient manner, preparing fabricated reinforcement and forms for the manufacturing process, ensuring equipment is in good and safe condition, and maintaining and cleaning the pipe machine. Reliable attendance is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
- Performs workload to meet production standards to assure safety, efficiency, and timeliness of the pipe manufacturing process.
- Performs the various jobs in the plant and work as a team to assure coverage and safe operation of equipment.
- Manufactures RCP that is within or exceeds the ASTM and Q-Cast standards that are set for acceptable pipe manufacturing.
- Works with the maintenance personnel to ensure pipe manufacturing equipment is compliant with all safety and operational standards. Informs the Plant Superintendent of mechanical deficiencies, needed repairs, and scheduling preventive maintenance.
- Assures reinforcement is prepared and within proper tolerances for manufacturing. Informs proper personnel of any quality problems that need to be resolved.
- Assures concrete used in the manufacturing of RCP is acceptable to manufacture a high-quality product.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment throughout the workday.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
- experience with manufacturing equipment and techniques; or
- an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to frequently lift/move items up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible hours dependent on production and emergency requirements; including overtime when required, especially during the spring and summer months; and occasional weekends.
- Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Reasonable communication skills to be able to communicate with production personnel. Bilingual English and Spanish speaking skills helpful.
