Job summary

Job description

Install storm, sanitary, and water mains on heavy-civil and site-development projects. You'll work as part of a utility crew to set pipe to grade, build structures, and perform connections, with a strong focus on safety and trench protection.

Responsibilities
  • Install storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main per plan and grade.
  • Build catch basins, manholes, and inlets; set frames and grates.
  • Set pipe to laser or string line; verify slope and alignment.
  • Work safely inside trench boxes and shoring; maintain awareness of trench protection requirements.
  • Coordinate with the operator on bedding, backfill, and compaction.
  • Perform pipe connections, tap-ins, and tie-ins per spec.
  • Keep accurate records of installed materials and as-builts for the foreman.
Requirements
  • 3+ years installing storm, sanitary, or water mains on civil construction projects.
  • Proficient reading utility plans and profiles.
  • Comfortable working in trenches with shoring, trench boxes, and confined spaces.
  • OSHA 10 (Confined Space training a plus).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Physically able to handle pipe and structure components in all weather.
