Job summary

George Nice & Sons is seeking a skilled Pipelayer in Virginia to assemble, connect, and construct pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. You will follow specs, set up laser alignment, cut pipes, and prepare joints for welding or sealing.

You will coordinate layouts with supervisors, ensure proper trench bases, check slopes, and help maintain the company’s safety program on site. Minimum 3 years' experience and a GED or high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Pipelayer.
  • GED or High school diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Check grade.
  • Set up laser for pipe alignment.
  • Cut pipes to required lengths.
  • Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
  • Lay out pipe routes, following specs or blueprints, and coordinate layouts with supervisor.
  • Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
  • Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement or glue.
  • Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
  • Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
  • Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
  • Promote and adhere to the company's safety program.
