Job summary

Hughes Brothers Construction is seeking a Pipe Layer to join our heavy civil team in Central Florida. You will install, assemble and align pipe systems for storm sewers, water mains and other infrastructures, working outdoors on site with guidance from supervisors.

The role requires physical endurance, eye for detail and the ability to read blueprints. Candidates with at least 1 year in civil pipe laying and a high school diploma are encouraged to apply; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand, bend, squat and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Minimum 1 year of Pipe Layer experience in civil construction.
• Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.
• Lay out pipe routes, following blueprints and coordinating with supervisor.
• Cut pipes to required lengths.
• Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction and sealing.
• Check slopes for conformance using levels or lasers.
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using welding equipment, cement or glue.
• Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
• Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
• Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
• Maintain a clean and safe work site and care for tools.
• Perform outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.

Hughes Brothers Construction is now hiring! We are a heavy civil contractor specializing in large site infrastructure, underground utilities and roadway construction throughout Central Florida. Pipe Layers are responsible for assembling, connecting and constructing pipe systems for storm sanitation sewers, drains and water mains and pipelines. This involves ensuring ground is prepped and trenches dug out for pipes as well as aligning pipes and seal joints together with cement, glue or plastic welding.

Responsibilities

• Install sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.
• Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisor.

Desired Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift to 40pounds
• Minimum 1 year experience holding a Pipe Layer position in Civil Construction
• Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
• Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
• Out-of-town travel and/or overtime is a possibility
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• English and Spanish fluency a plus, but not required
