Job summary

MHI Ship Repair & Services in Norfolk, VA, seeks experienced Ship Repair Pipefitters for full-time roles. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, laying out, installing and repairing shipboard piping systems and supports, and performing hydrostatic tests to verify integrity.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of pipefitting experience in ship repair or shipbuilding, and be able to read specs, work safely, and collaborate with a team.

Responsibilities

• Reading blueprints and planning work from start to finish using safe and efficient work practices.
• Laying out, installing, repairing, and modifying shipboard piping systems and supports.
• Cutting, threading, bending, and fitting pipe using hand and power tools.
• Installing and connecting piping to pumps, tanks, radiators, galley equipment, and other shipboard systems.
• Welding or bolting pipe supports and completing required fit-up documentation.
• Performing hydrostatic and pressure testing to verify system integrity.
• Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with safety and quality standards.
