Job summary

The Shaw Group in Beaumont is seeking an experienced Pipe Fabrication Tacker to join our fabrication team. This role focuses on welding, fabrication, and assisting pipefitters to build piping assemblies for industrial projects.

A heavy-shop background is strongly preferred and a commitment to quality workmanship is essential. Candidates must pass on-site tests, possess GTAW (TIG) skills on pipe, and demonstrate reliable safety practices while working with a fabrication crew in a shop

Qualifications

Must pass on-site test: GTAW 2” schedule 40 in a 6G position.
Must pass visual inspection.
Prior pipe fabrication in an industrial/heavy shop setting.
Proficient in GTAW welding on pipe.
Able to meet physical requirements and safety rules.
Ability to read Welding Procedures Specifications (WPS).

Responsibilities

Connect cables to welding unit to control amperage, voltage and pulse per Welding Engineer.
Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions and deposit metal.
Welds and joins edges of work pieces; clean joints with grinder and brush.
May repair parts, preheat pieces, and position clamps or fixtures.
Follow safety rules and participate in pre-job safety briefings.
