Job summary

The Shaw Group, LLC in Walker, LA is seeking an experienced Fabrication Tacker to perform TIG pipe tacking on carbon steel, focusing on fit-up, alignment, tack placement and producing clean, sound tacks for production welders.

This is a full‑time on‑site role with day and night shifts and a new pay increase. You will take the on‑site Tacker Test (TIG – 2" Schedule 80 Carbon Pipe, 5G) and join a team that values safety, accuracy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Previous professional pipe tacking/TIG welding experience required.
• Experience as Fabrication Tacker, TIG Tacker, Pipe Tacker, or similar pipe welding position preferred.
• Proficient with TIG (GTAW) on carbon steel pipe.
• Understanding fit-up, alignment, root opening, and tack placement.
• Able to produce clean, sound tacks for welders.

Responsibilities

• Perform TIG pipe tacking and related fabrication duties as per company procedures.
• Guide electrode or gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion and bead.
• Maintain arc length and movement speed to ensure proper tack quality.
• Set up and clamp work pieces, and tack assemblies together as required.
• Comply with safety rules and participate in pre-job safety briefings.
