McLain Site Solutions is seeking a dependable Pipe Crew Hillman to support underground utility installation crews in Jacksonville, FL. The role involves assisting with pipe installation, maintaining line and grade, coordinating materials, and ensuring safe, efficient operations on active construction sites.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of underground utility experience, familiarity with pipe lasers and grade tools, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of underground utility construction experience.
• Basic knowledge of underground utility installation practices.
• Experience around water, sewer, force main, and storm drainage projects.
• Ability to establish and maintain line and grade using pipe lasers, grade rods, and grade stakes.
• Ability to read a tape measure and follow grade information.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pipe Crew Foreman with daily underground utility operations.
• Support the installation of underground utility systems.
• Establish and maintain proper line and grade using pipe lasers, grade rods, and grade stakes.
• Guide excavator operators during excavation and pipe installation activities.
• Stage pipe, fittings, valves, hydrants, manholes, catch basins, and other materials for installation.
• Verify materials are correct and readily available before installation begins.
• Assist with inventory control and communicate material needs to the Foreman.
• Monitor trench conditions and maintain safe access around excavations.
• Assist with measuring pipe, checking elevations, and verifying utility alignment.
• Communicate effectively with the Tailman, equipment operators, and Foreman to maintain efficient production.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow OSHA excavation safety regulations and company safety policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
