Job summary

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium seeks an experienced Assistant Curator, Pinnipeds, to lead the care and management of our pinniped collection within the Wild Encounters team. You will develop staff, promote animal wellbeing, and support conservation initiatives while delivering memorable guest experiences.

The role requires extensive marine mammal expertise, leadership ability, and strong communication skills to engage guests and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
• Ten years of marine mammal experience, including pinniped care, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily care, husbandry, training, enrichment, nutrition, and overall management of pinniped collection.
• Lead staff training and mentoring; oversee animal wellbeing programmes.
• Assist with policy development, collection planning, and veterinary coordination.
• Deliver engaging guest experiences through staff-led presentations and tours.
