Job Summary: Summer Camp Counselors will be responsible for a grade level group of twelve-plus girls during the duration of the day. They will supervise campers and ensure their safety, development, growth, skill, achievement, and general well-being. Camp Counselors at Pilot Summer Academy will maintain a schedule for camp participants and organize and lead various small and large group activities.

About Pilot Summer Academy: Pilot Summer Academy is a Summer Camp for young girls in grades rising 3rd-7th (having completed 2nd grade through 6th grade). The Academy provides students a holistic daily camp experience from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, around Science, Robotics, Pilot Television, Arts, Dance, and Theater hosted in the OLP state-of-the-art facilities. Each day, students will participate in a faith-based young women's devotional geared toward issues facing our young girls today. Additional activities include games, crafts, special guest speakers, field trips, Friday Fun Day, and more!

Camp will begin on Monday, June 16, 2025, and run through Friday, July 18, 2025. Over the 5 weeks, there will be 3 coordinated bus field trips around San Diego providing campers the opportunity to experience hands-on learning and first-hand leadership.

Classification:

The position of Pilot Summer Academy Camp Counselor is a temporary seasonal employee, non-exempt position that operates up to 40 hours/week within the summer camp season. This position is not benefit eligible. The Summer Camp Counselor rate of pay is $20 to $22 per hour depending on qualifications/experience. Camp Counselors report to the Pilot Summer Academy Director, Abby Cota.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age and have completed high school by the time camp begins in June.
• Must be available to work June 16th through July 18th. (Note that there will be no camp on the Federal Holidays of Thursday, June 19, and Friday, July 4).
• Training for camp will occur the week before camp, June 9, 2025, through June 13, 2025. Specific dates and times TBD.
• Must enjoy working with kids.
• Desire to work in a camp environment.
• Good role model, adaptable, and responsible.
• Positive attitude and ability to build and work collaboratively.
• Ability to abide by the mission statement of the Academy of Our Lady of Peace, goals, objectives, personnel policies, rules, and regulations.

• Ensure that all safety standards are maintained at all times.
• Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with Pilot Summer Academy, including the whereabouts of your campers at all times.
• Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with Pilot Summer Academy.
• Maintain a schedule for camp participants.
