The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is looking to hire a Full-Time Pilot to support STAT MedEvac.

Schedule:
- (7) 12-hour shifts in a two-week pay period
- Typically, 7 days on and 7 days off
- Rotating days and nights
Final pay is based on experience and region.
Purpose:
The Pilot in Command functions as a member of the critical care transport team. The Pilot in Command is responsible for, and is the final authority over, the safe operation of the assigned aircraft on all flights released and operated by the STAT MedEvac system. Responsibilities include ensuring aircraft airworthiness, currency of all FAA required qualifications and publications, safe conduct of flight operations in accordance with CEM policies and procedures and FAA regulations. The Pilot in Command is expected to exercise independent judgment to provide the safest and most efficient air transportation of CEM patients in a highly challenging and rapidly changing operational environment. The Pilot in Command works as part of a team and shares responsibility for the team's conduct. The Pilot in Command fulfills training and safety requirements as established by the STAT MedEvac leadership and performs other duties as assigned. Supports and upholds the mission, goals, and objectives of the STAT MedEvac system at all times.
Responsibilities:- Report for work well rested and fit for duty.
- Adhere to drug and alcohol policies, including FAA requirements regarding medications.
- Report for duty in sufficient time to accept a flight and receive a release number before the scheduled shift begins.
- Coordinate with flight followers regarding currency, duty time, aircraft, and weather status; confirm NOTAMS, update weather as needed, ensure all regulatory duty and rest requirements are met; debrief as necessary.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to all service requests, prioritizing safety.
- Support service continuity through scheduling flexibility and base assignment, assisting with coverage at the assigned base and system-wide.
- Participate actively in developing the CEM safety culture; ensure safety of all patients and personnel around the aircraft.
- Use appropriate safety channels to report concerns and utilize tools to promote a safe work environment.
- Complete all documentation accurately and promptly, including payroll, expense reports, and training forms.
- Complete post-flight paperwork accurately and on time, including hazard or incident reports, ASAP reports, etc., and be familiar with necessary software/hardware.
- Thoroughly know and follow STAT MedEvac policies and procedures; help meet operational goals and objectives.
- Provide adequate notice for PTO, trade days, etc., to ensure schedule coverage; bear responsibility for shift coverage.
- Select and use personal protective equipment suitable for the expected hazards.
- Perform all duties assigned by the Base Site Manager-Aviation, including daily, weekly, monthly tasks.
- Maintain fitness for duty by complying with health requirements, including weight, hearing conservation, and medical certifications.
- Report injuries and complete documentation promptly, regardless of severity.
- Conduct all flights safely, ensuring timely communication and compliance with policies, regulations, and safety procedures.
- Demonstrate and maintain proficiency in aircraft operation, including radios and navigation equipment; complete required check rides and recurrent training; perform practice approaches regularly.
- Conduct shift change briefs with crew, assign inflight duties, and ensure training and currency requirements are met; participate in crew debriefings.
- Maintain current and accurate flight documentation, training records, and aircraft readiness, including ensuring aircraft cleanliness and proper storage.
- Ensure aircraft is airworthy, documenting maintenance events properly, performing inspections, and ensuring readiness.
- Mentor new pilots and assist with initial operational experience (IOE).
- Protect patient privacy according to policies and laws.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional rapport with customers and team members, adhering to uniform and appearance standards.
