Job summary

Debut Biotechnology is seeking a Research Associate to support microbial fermentation for small molecule production. The role requires fermentation science knowledge and basic understanding of microbial physiology, metabolism, and biosynthetic pathways.

You will work closely with molecular biologists, chemists, and engineers on bench-scale bioreactors and product analysis. The successful candidate is energetic, adaptable and self-motivated, capable of handling complex challenges both

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; OR Associates Degree + 2 years of experience; OR HS Diploma/GED + 4 years of experience.
  • Attention to detail and meticulous record keeping
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel skills

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute fermentation experiments across multiple volumes.
  • Optimize fermentation operations by controlling numerous parameters.
  • Maintain bench-scale bioreactors.
  • Prepare media, buffers, and chemical solutions.
  • Sample products and perform chemical/microbiological analyses.
  • Clean and sterilize laboratory materials and equipment.
  • Process data and perform statistical analysis to understand strain performance.
  • Perform high throughput optimization across multiple reaction volumes.
  • Evening/nights and weekend work may be required occasionally.
