Job summary

Dow Inc. in Wilmington, DE is seeking a proactive Pilot Plant Technician to support R&D Pilot Plant operations. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other technicians to ensure safe and proficient operation and to deliver product samples and process data for planned experiments.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, equipment handling, and adherence to safety standards, including life-critical procedures. A 12-hour rotating shift and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with one of: Associate’s degree or higher in Process Technology, Chemistry, Biology or related field; OR 3+ years of technical military experience/training; OR 3+ years in chemical facility operations or related industry.

Responsibilities

• Operate and field check processing equipment and monitor conditions and control systems.
• Perform tasks as per Master Task List (field checks, equipment prep, samples).
• Use troubleshooting to resolve process deviations and understand team interdependencies.
• Monitor and input plant metrics for SPC, asset utilization, costs, and yields; identify optimization opportunities.
• Improve plant performance and operating discipline; create/update procedures.
• Write safe work practices and perform lockout/tagout.
• Participate in Root Cause Investigations and crisis response as needed.
• Demonstrate Life Critical Standards and safety culture; complete training per plan.
• Move drums (55 gal) and lift up to 50 lbs.
