Job summary

Ayrton Energy is seeking a hands‑on Pilot Plant Operator to support process development and scale‑up at our Hawaii pilot facility. This 6–9 month contract role focuses on safe, rigorous operation of pilot equipment, handling experiments, data logging and collaboration with engineers and scientists.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in process or pilot plant environments, strong documentation habits, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑moving R&D setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as process/plant/chemical operator.
• Experience in pilot plant, lab-scale, or R&D production environments.
• Strong documentation habits and SOP updates.
• US work authorization and relocation to Hawaii.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operations of Ayrton pilot plant per safety protocols.
• Operate pilot-scale process equipment per batch and campaigns.
• Execute experimental runs and adjust operating parameters as directed.
• Monitor and log process data; flag deviations and suggest improvements.
• Perform routine equipment setup, changeover and basic troubleshooting.
• Run lab analysis e.g. FTIR, GC‑TCD using SOPs.
• Liaise with on-site stakeholders for coordination and upsets.
• Follow and help write SOPs as processes evolve.
• Perform minor maintenance and coordinate with contractors.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the pilot plant and work area.
• Supervise and train junior team members.
