Job summary

Sibelco is seeking a Pilot Plant Controls Engineer to design, develop, and optimize chemical processes from lab to pilot plant. Based at our Red Hill/Bakersville site, you will ensure scalable, safe operations and work closely with R&D and production teams.

Qualifications include advanced chemical engineering degree, 5+ years in process development, and experience with process simulation and project leadership. Fluency in English and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on experience operating and controlling mineral/chemical processing plant systems.
• Minimum of 5 years in process development, preferably in chemical/metallurgical/mineral industries.
• Proven track record scaling up from lab to pilot plant.
• Strong project management skills with cross-functional leadership.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of chemical processes from lab to pilot plant.
• Collaborate with R&D to translate lab processes into scalable operations.
• Make engineering decisions for existing or conceptual processes and equipment.
• Interact with suppliers for quotations, timing, and specifications.
• Research literature and principles; report findings to management.
• Implement findings after management agreement.
• Source new suppliers and manage interactions with them.
• Coordinate with Pilot Plant Manager for smooth scale-up and transfer.
• Collaborate with Quality Control, Production, and Procurement to integrate new processes.
