Job summary

Ingram Barge Company in Kentucky is seeking experienced Vessel Pilots for harbor operations. The role requires not just operating vessels safely but also leading the crew, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and fostering a high-performance culture.

The successful candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED, a valid USCG Mate/Pilot license, and other essential certifications. The position offers the chance to take charge of vessel navigation while supervising deck operations.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must hold a USCG Mate/Pilot license or higher.
• Must possess a valid FCC Radio License.
• Must hold a Radar endorsement or certification.
• Must be CPR & 1st Aid Certified.
• Must have a valid TWIC.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operations through Ingram’s safety systems.
• Supervise the Mate and Deckhands in coordination with the Captain.
• Navigate vessels in compliance with the rules of the road.
• Ensure crew compliance with USCG and environmental regulations.
• Promote harmony among the crew through leadership.
• Delegate vessel tasks based on crew abilities.

Job Description

• Assure safe crew, vessel and tow operations through use of Ingram’s safety systems and policies.
• Supervise the Mate and Deckhands in consultation with the Captain and shore-based leadership.
• Assure safe and efficient vessel navigation through compliance with the “rules of the road”, practicing good seamanship and boat handling skills.
• Comply with and ensure crew compliance with USCG and environmental laws and regulations.
• Demonstrate felt leadership and promote harmony among the crew.
• Delegate vessel responsibilities, duties, and tasks considering crew members experience and abilities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Have a USCG Mate/Pilot license or higher.
• Have a valid FCC Radio License.
• Have a Radar endorsement or Radar Certification.
• Be CPR & 1st Aid Certified.
• Have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
