Job description

Job Overview

The Piledriver is responsible for the installation of footing piles and earth support sheeting systems as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent. The role involves working with pile driving rigs that drive metal, concrete, or wood piling into the earth during the early stages of construction. The Piledriver frequently cuts, joins, and fastens metal construction materials using welding equipment and oxy‑acetylene torches.

Responsibilities
  • Operate direct and signal equipment to facilitate the alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
  • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations per project plans or specifications.
  • Drill and set piles using caisson or other drill rigs.
  • Lubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or tooling as needed.
  • Weld connections, including safety railing, tiebacks, and internal bracing.
  • Perform shooting grades and/or layout of work.
  • Install piles using diesel hammers and/or vibratory hammers.
  • Perform small repairs to diesel hammers.
  • Test micro‑pile tie‑backs and load frames.
  • Mentor junior crew members and assist other craft workers as required.
  • Keep project superintendents or general superintendents informed of actions that may affect project execution or company operations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of piling installation/extraction, micro piles, concrete forming and pouring, and fixed‑mass driving mechanisms.
  • Rigging/signaling qualification.
  • Knowledge of assembling and disassembling a crane and reading load charts.
  • Ability to make small repairs to diesel hammers.
  • OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR certifications.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good interpersonal skills and dependability.
  • Willingness to mentor junior crew members.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of deep foundation/drilling experience (preferred, but not required).
  • AWS welding certification (preferred, but not required).
  • OSHA 30 certification (preferred, but not required).
  • Must be over the age of 18.
  • Union affiliation or willingness to join the union.
  • Willingness to travel within the Midwest (≈75%) and to work overnight if required.
  • Ability to work 8‑12 hour days, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Physical Demands

Must perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions, as well as climbing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, balancing, squatting, and working at heights. Must handle average weight objects up to 75lb.
