The role emphasizes inclusive instruction for varied ages and abilities, with modifications and progressions as needed.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety, preparing class materials, and building positive member relationships while connecting participants to YMCA programs and services.

Qualifications

• Must hold National Group Exercise Certification.
• Pilates Mat Certification is required.
• Barre Certification is required for Barre classes.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, engaging, and inclusive group exercise classes per YMCA standards.
• Deliver classes suitable for varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels with clear modifications.
• Provide clear instruction and demonstrate proper technique with up-to-date knowledge.
• Arrive prepared with music, equipment, and class materials and follow scheduled times.
• Create a welcoming, supportive environment connecting members to YMCA programs.
• Build relationships with members, recognize achievements, and support retention.
• Answer member questions on fitness and wellness and promote YMCA services.
• Maintain safe class environments; inspect equipment and report hazards.
• Monitor participants for fatigue or pain and respond to safety concerns.
• Record attendance and complete required reports in YMCA systems.
