Job summary

Ann Arbor YMCA is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor - Pilates to lead safe, engaging Pilates classes. You will plan lessons, modify for participant needs, and ensure equipment safety in a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities include class preparation, proper cuing, and maintaining certifications. Candidate should be certified in group exercise or personal training and able to work with a diverse community; prior six months' related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED certification required or obtained within 60 days of hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification in group exercise or personal training from a recognized organization.
• Flexible to work with a wide variety of people.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare classes considering student goals and abilities.
• Ensure safety of all participants by following best practices.
• Arrive early for setup; compensation for prep time.
• Register participants and collect necessary forms.
• Provide exercise modifications for safety and success.
• Provide proper cuing to motivate and guide participants.
• Inspect equipment and report safety issues.
• Arrange qualified substitutes when needed.
• Utilize equipment properly and maintain facilities.
• Maintain certifications and request advanced certifications.
• Maintain professionalism with members and staff.
• Set up and clean up the studio and equipment.
• Follow YMCA policies and emergency procedures; complete incident reports.
