Pikes Peak - America's Mountain Equipment Operator I - (Seasonal Position)About this job: In this position, you will perform a variety of maintenance duties in support of Pikes Peak - America's Mountain (PPAM) with snow removal as your primary responsibility. Our PPAM road crew and facilities maintenance staff will support you with every scoop and bucket removal of snow.

Work Schedule: Work schedule will be up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with some weekend and holiday work required. Traditional work hours are 7am to 3:30pm, dependent upon snowstorms.

This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
Approximate dates of employment will be March-September. Scheduled hours will vary based on department needs. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.
As an Equipment Operator I, you will:- Safely operate skid loaders, backhoe loaders, front-end loaders, motor graders and other light and heavy equipment
- Inspect equipment, perform preventative maintenance on equipment, and schedule repairs with PPAM fleet technicians
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documenting checks on standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report)
- Operate heavy equipment for major construction projects
- Participate in maintaining a safe and secure work environment for employees and guests by adhering to risk management and safety policies and guidelines
- Report all safety issues or concerns to the appropriate supervisor
- Operate tools and equipment under the guidance of senior equipment operators
- Safely use, clean, service, and make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment and tools
- Transport material and equipment to and from maintenance and construction sites
- Perform grounds maintenance and clean up
- Install and repair Pikes Peak Highway signage as directed
- Perform manual labor such as cleaning culverts, removing debris, shoveling snow, and cleaning storm water infrastructure
- Maintain log and record books including data entry of maintenance and project progress in Cartegraph software
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and vision of PPAM
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Ability to operate a wide variety of vehicles and equipment safely on the mountain
- Ability to operate/ use power tools, hand tools and precision tools safely
- Ability to work with hands, tie knots, repetitive motion etc.
- Ability to do physical work, stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to follow directions and implement tasks with little to no supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to operate two-way radios
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Reliable transportation to Pikes Peak - America's Mountain jobsite prior to or during a snowstorm
- Consistent form of communication (mobile phone)
- Two years of snow removal and/or facility maintenance experience
- Experience working in an outdoor setting performing manual labor
Work is performed in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme weather conditions, high traffic areas, and at an altitude up to 14,115 feet.

Some snow apparel gear will be provided.T his position requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, work around moving vehicles and wildlife, stand, sit, stoop, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally. Potential exposure to hostile or aggressive PPAM guests may be encountered.
