Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a PICU RN for a night shift travel assignment in California, requiring CA RN licensure and 2+ years of pediatric ICU experience.

The role features 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) in a small, non-teaching hospital with intensivist support by day and NP/PA support by night. Housing allowance and travel reimbursements are provided to eligible travelers.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• BLS and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required.
• Epic EMR documentation experience required.
• Comfortable working independently in a lower-acuity, non-teaching hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Staff in a small Pediatric ICU unit in a community-based hospital.
• Collaborate with a center linked to a Level II pediatric trauma program.
• Care for patients with varying acuity, from very sick to stable.
• Night coverage with NPs/PAs and 24/7 hospitalist support; no on-call required.
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM).
• Weekend rotation every other weekend; 6-hour NICU/Pediatrics orientation.
• May be among two RNs on shift without immediate onsite MD support.
• Provide patient- and family-centered care in a close-knit unit.
• Travelers must adapt to varied unit types and acuity levels.
• Maximum RTO of 5 days; no holiday RTO accepted.
