Job description

The University of Virginia Intramural‑Recreational Sports Department is seeking Pickleball Instructors to work in our Pickleball Instructional Program this spring. Lessons are held at the Snyder Tennis Center on UVA’s Grounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead and instruct a variety of pickleball lessons for University faculty, staff, students, and members.
• Provide lessons to both youth and adult participants.
• Engage participants in vibrant activities that promote a lifetime interest in pickleball.
• Correctly instruct and teach lessons designed for participant enjoyment and safety.
• Effectively communicate and provide exemplary customer service.
• Adhere to and enforce University/Departmental Policies.
• Assist in the execution of Emergency Action Procedures.
• Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and in‑service sessions.

Qualifications

• Current UVA student.
• Some experience leading group pickleball and/or tennis lessons.
• Competitive tennis or pickleball playing experience at the high school or collegiate level.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to modify movements for participant safety.

Compensation
