Pay: 50% Commission plus Minimum wage for Meetings and Admin hoursSummaryUnder the direct supervision of Fitness Coordinator as a member of the Health, Sports, Fitness and Aquatics Team, the Tennis Pro at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center (APJCC), part of Jewish Silicon Valley (JSV), is responsible for successfully implementing member engagement and tennis programming initiatives that align with the core values of the organization. This position serves as a vital role in engaging and retaining members and facilitating a safe and welcoming environment that inspires members to achieve their health and fitness goals.Areas of ResponsibilityMember EngagementStrong commitment to creating a warm and welcoming environment to all members and guestsAbility to foster strong relationships amongst both members and staff in a professional mannerAct as a catalyst for members to be engaged at the APJCC in areas outside of fitnessExperience working with a diverse range of people at various levels of fitness and abilityProgram ManagementUnderstanding of the fundamental skills tennis with ability to implement an appropriate tennis program for beginner to advanced participantsKnowledge of current industry standards and trends in tennis programmingStrong personal skills in organization and program managementAdministrative skills that include email and high written and oral communication abilitiesLeadershipAbility to work independentlyStrong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with other team membersBe a champion for member engagement through relationship building with both staff and membersOperational EffectivenessAbility to understand members’ tennis needs based on evaluation process and implement strategies for goal settingKnowledge of USTA and recreational tennis standards and best practicesAssist the Sports and Fitness Director in the daily operations of the tennis facility, maintaining the courts in first class conditionFunctional understanding of ancillary sales and tennis class/lesson pricingBase knowledge to create goal setting plan for members to be successfulEnforce APJCC policies including requirement for tennis court reservationsRisk ManagementAbility to respond appropriately in an emergency situationAbility to recognize and demonstrate safe use of tennis equipmentEnforce compliance with all safety regulations among staff and patrons, working to eliminate potential hazardsAbility to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.Qualifications and competencies:Education/Special LicensesCPR/AED certifiedExperienceMinimum of 2 years of experience in this or a related fieldWorking ConditionsThe working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
