Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Columbus, OH is seeking a Picker/Packer to support efficient warehouse distribution. You will pull items, scan using RF guns, and pack orders for shipment while meeting accuracy and timing standards.

You should be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work under deadline pressure in a safety-conscious environment. This is a full-time, on-site role with comprehensive warehouse training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One+ year experience coordinating shipments in warehousing or distribution.
• Ability to perform tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented to ensure correct items and quantities.

Responsibilities

• Pull items from warehouse inventory based on pick tickets/orders.
• Use RF guns and other electronic devices to scan items.
• Pack and wrap orders for shipment and stage for delivery.
• Transport orders to shipping locations using handling equipment.
• Assist in conducting warehouse inventory counts as required.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and wear protective equipment as needed.

The Picker/Packer will have a key role in the efficient distribution of our warehouse deliveries and arrivals

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock Packaging Solutions

• Handle pick tickets/orders from warehouse management/staff to pull items from warehouse inventory.
• Use RF guns and other electronic equipment, as necessary.
• Physically pulls warehouse items by the stated number, size, color, quantity, quality, etc. requirements.
• Compare and inspect physical items pulled to the requirements of the pick ticket/order.
• Pack/wrap orders as required by item/delivery type and prepare for shipment.
• Transport orders to shipping locations/bins/docks using the proper material handling equipment.
• Ensure that orders are staged correctly for each delivery.
• Operate any material handling equipment following established safety guidelines.
• Assist in maintaining the security and safety of the warehouse.
• May assist in placing incoming items in inventory.
• Agility to stand and walk for extended periods of time as a primary job responsibility.
• Capacity to lift and carry up to 50lbs intermittently during a typical work shift.
• Observance of established safety guidelines in conducting physical work activity duties.
• Assist with conducting warehouse inventory counts as required.
• Other duties as assigned

What You Need To Succeed

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One or more years’ experience coordinating shipments in a warehousing or distribution environment.
• Ability to perform tasks under pressure, and within a deadline driven environment.
• Ability to handle detail-oriented work to ensure proper items and quantities are picked to arrive at customers in good condition.
• General fluency in English required, verbal and written.

Physical Requirements

• Perform job duties in severe weather conditions: heat, cold, rain, etc.
• Walk for distances of 100 yards repeatedly and without assistance.
• Lift 50 pounds and without assistance or equipment
• Utilize all material handling equipment without assistance.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time as a primary job responsibility.
• Observance of established safety guidelines in conducting physical work activity duties.
• Wear protective equipment as required.
