Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Material Handler - Assembly to load/unload trucks, warehouse materials, and support production lines. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and timely handling of materials to ensure uninterrupted packaging operations.

Pay rate is $18/hr with a 2pm-10:30pm schedule (Mon-Fri) and overtime on weekends as needed. Candidates should be able to stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills with management and team members.
• Proficient in basic math functions.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to interpret written, verbal, or diagram instructions.
• Capable of performing all essential functions with/without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect forklift daily at shift start and document the inspection.
• Safely operate forklift and move materials around the facility.
• Load and unload trucks and warehouse products and materials.
• Use RF scanner for receipts, issues, returns, and barcode locations.
• Verify counts and descriptions of goods received, shipped or stored.
• Support production lines by delivering products and components as requested.
• Complete movement paperwork accurately and timely.
• Maintain warehouse and loading dock cleanliness.
• Perform regular inventory and cycle counts.
• Replace forklift propane tanks or batteries as needed.
• Assist other departments as needed.

The Opportunity:

The Material Handler - Assembly position is responsible for loading and unloading trucks; warehousing product and materials and supplying production lines with requested product and/or components.

Pay Rate: $18/hr.

Schedule: 2p-1030p (M-F) overtime and weekends as needed

How Will You Impact Packaging Solutions Smurfit WestRock

• Inspect forklift daily at the start of the shift ensuring all safety features are operational.


• Complete checklist documenting inspection.


• Safe operation of forklift, moving materials throughout the facility.


• Assure all materials shipped and warehoused are handled in a manner that prevents damage.


• Load and unload trucks; warehouse products and materials.


• Use an RF scanner for receipts, issues to lines, returns, and bar code locations.


• Verify all counts, quantities and descriptions of products and materials received, shipped or warehoused.


• Service production lines, delivering product and/or components as requested.


• Timely and accurate completion of paperwork associated with the movement of product and materials.


• Responsible for the general cleanliness of the warehouse and the loading docks.


• Perform regular inventory and cycle counts.


• Safely change forklift propane tanks and/or batteries as needed.


• Assist other departments as needed.


• Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.


• Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.


• Overtime is required.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need To Succeed

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Ability to effectively communicate with management and team members.


• Perform basic math functions.

Physical Requirements
