Job summary

Skipcollc in Illinois seeks a Driver to support day-to-day project operations. You will travel to multiple job sites weekly, assist with delivering items, and perform general labor as needed. A strong safety-first mindset and reliable schedule are essential to join our field team.

You will transport materials between sites, operate basic equipment, and back up supervisors as projects demand. Night and weekend shifts may be required based on client needs.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Experience driving a truck with a trailer.
  • Prior driving/pickup & delivery experience.
  • Capable of backing, parking and maneuvering a truck and trailer.
  • Able to lift and shift equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and off-hours per project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Transport and handle materials, tools, and equipment safely between job sites.
  • Operate forklifts, skid steers, and light construction equipment as needed.
  • Drive to Chicago Metropolitan locations using company truck and trailer.
  • Load/unload lawn movers, snowblowers, and other equipment.
  • Perform basic pre-trip inspections and safety checks.
  • Communicate professionally with customers during pickups/deliveries.
  • Report any vehicle, trailer, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain clean, organized vehicles and follow transportation laws.

WHAT THE JOB IS

The Driver will work closely with the Field Supervisor and fellow team-members to support day-to-day project operations. This role is dynamic and hands-on, requiring flexibility to perform a variety of tasks that may change daily. You will be responsible for traveling to multiple job sites on a weekly or sometimes daily basis to assist with delivering various items to project sites and may perform physical tasks as needed.

At a minimum, you will be sure to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in collaboration with site leadership and subcontractors. We believe in, “there is no job beneath me” mentality. From time to time, you may be directed to help out with some general labor tasks in between site drop-offs.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
  • Transport and handle materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites in a safe and efficient manner
  • Operate heavy and light construction equipment safely such as forklifts, skid steers, lulls, and rental machinery
  • Safely pick up and deliver company equipment, tools, and project items
  • Drive throughout the Chicago Metropolitan locations as needed using a company truck and trailer
  • Load and unload lawn mowers, snowblowers, zero-turn mowers, and other equipment
  • Proper position and secure/strap down all equipment before transportation
  • Perform a safety check before every trip to ensure equipment and loads are secure
  • Keep the company truck and trailer clean, organized, and presentable
  • Keep vehicles fueled and ready for the next delivery
  • Perform basic pre-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, including tires, lights, straps, hitch, and safety equipment
  • Communicate with internal/external customers professionally during pickups and deliveries
  • Verify the correct equipment is being picked up or delivered
  • Help move and organize equipment at warehouse and project locations when needed
  • Immediately report any vehicle, trailer, equipment, or safety concerns
  • Follow company procedures and all applicable traffic and transportation laws
  • Operate basic construction equipment including pumps, generators, shop vacs, power tools, etc.

Requirements
WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING TO THE TEAM
  • Valid driver’s license and clean/reliable driving record
  • Previous driving and/or pickup and delivery experience required
  • Experience driving a truck with a trailer
  • Comfortable backing, parking, and maneuvering a truck and trailer
  • Dependable and will report to work on time
  • Understands proper tie-down procedures using ratchet straps and secure equipment
  • Physically able to lift, push, pull, and maneuver outdoor power equipment
  • Strong ability to be adaptable and multitask in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Able to work independently and manage a delivery schedule
  • Flexible and dependable, available for night shifts, weekends, and off-hours work as project demands
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor; excels in collaborative, non-confrontational environments
  • Strong communication skills; coordinate effectively with the Field Supervisor and internal teams
  • Skilled in real‑time problem solving and decision‑making under pressure
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and multi‑task individually and as a team
  • Hands‑on experience operating power tools, equipment, and construction machinery
  • Consistently maintains a safety‑first mindset, following site protocols and best practices
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work in an environment that requires a strong sense of physicality
  • Capable of sitting, standing and walking for extended periods in various tasks
  • Physically able to climb ladders, bend, crouch, and access confined spaces as needed
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Willing and available to work off‑hours, including nights and weekends, to meet project and client needs

COMPENSATION
  • Starting at $20-$25/hr. (compensation will be based on experience)
