Job summary

Bloom School of Music & Dance in Los Angeles, CA invites applications for a part-time educator who can teach piano and woodwinds to a diverse student body. The role emphasizes regular progress assessment, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development.

The ideal candidate will hold at least a BM in Music, be able to converse in a second language, and have experience teaching both private and group lessons across multiple styles. In-person work at our LA location is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Regularly assess student progress and understanding
• Reflect on classes as to what is working what could be improved
• Participate in professional development activities, both internal (led by music director, owner and visiting experts) and external (outside training opportunities,, attending conferences, and engaging in best practice sharing with others in the Bloom community)
• Assist in curriculum development if necessary
• Constantly ask “How can we do this better?”
• Meet children where they are
• Participating as an active member of the community to provide stewardship of the school and adherence to its mission and guiding principles
• Positive and regular communication with the families taking classes
• Maintaining a high level of professionalism including arriving 10-15 minutes early to prepare the room, timely responses in all communications with front office staff, admin, director and owners, taking attendance in every class, meeting deadlines and commitments to self, students and the community, give lesson plans in advance for every semester as well as reflections afterward
• Constant education toward caregivers to help them understand what students are learning and why
• Find music that is relatable to students
• Ask questions and seek support

Preferred Qualifications
