Job summary

Music House School of Music in Prairie Village, KS is seeking a part-time piano instructor to teach in person, primarily Tuesday evenings from 3–9pm. Preference for ability to teach at multiple locations within Music House’s network, with focus on group classes when possible.

Bachelor’s in music education or performance preferred; 1+ year teaching experience required; performance experience desirable. Pay ranges $24–$28/hour with health benefits options and a 401K after 30 days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in music education or performance.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience.
• Group teaching experience a plus.
• Performance experience in both individual and ensemble settings.
• Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking, listening).

Responsibilities

• Teach private lessons building on student strengths and interests.
• Lead group classes using Music House curriculum.
• Attend monthly faculty meetings.
• Assist with three community events per year (recitals, jam sessions, faculty concerts).
• Communicate with parents, fellow faculty, and staff.
• Track attendance and maintain teaching notes.
• Sign students up for group and individual performances.
• Create and follow lesson plans and teaching guides.
