Job summary

Music House School of Music in Prairie Village, KS is seeking a part-time piano instructor to teach in-person lessons on Tuesday evenings (3-9pm). The role, at Music House within Ensemble Schools, offers $24-$28 per hour plus health benefits options and a 401K with employer match after 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in music education or performance preferred.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience; group teaching experience a plus.
• Performance experience in both solo and ensemble settings.
• Excellent communication skills (written and spoken).
• Organized, detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient using technology including computers and online applications.
• Appreciation for punctuality, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a routine background check.

Responsibilities

• Teaching private lessons in a way that builds on the strengths and interests of the student.
• Leading group classes through the Music House curriculum.
• Attending monthly faculty meetings.
• Assisting with three community events per year (recitals, jam sessions, faculty concerts).
• Communicating and interacting with parents, fellow teaching faculty, and administrative staff.
• Tracking student attendance and maintaining detailed teaching notes.
• Signing students up for and preparing them for group and individual performances.
• Creating and/or following lesson plans and teaching guides.
