Job summary

Texas A&M University Health Science Center, located in Houston, seeks a Research Technician I for Cromer Lab to perform entry-level technical support in a busy physiology research setting.

Under supervision, you will assemble equipment, support procedures, recruit/maintain a participant pool, and assist students with projects. Commitment to training and safety is emphasized; grant funding may influence ongoing employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years related experience.
• Preferred HIPAA training.
• Familiar with normal human physiology.
• Experience with human research protocols (non-biological samples).

Responsibilities

• Assembles and operates technical equipment.
• Sets-up and maintains equipment for the laboratory and updates laboratory computers.
• Maintains inventory and orders parts and supplies as needed.
• Maintains laboratories according to OSHA specifications.
• Provides logistical support with computers in the laboratory.
• Performs laboratory and prep room cleanup.
• Assists senior staff in major field experiments and developing procedures.
• Assists with participant pool; recruitment, screening, and records.
• Assists students with their research projects.
• Edit proposal drafts and grant paperwork.
• Participates in training and professional development sessions.
