The Department of Physics at the University of Virginia is hiring Federal Work Study Undergraduate Students to work as Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UTAs) for the 2025-2026 academic year.

UTAs participate in weekly training sessions, conduct introductory labs for two sections per week (26 students in each), and hold office hours to assist with solutions, data collection, and analysis.

This role offers hands-on teaching experience and support for student learning in introductory physics labs.

Qualifications

• Current UVA student.
• No prior experience or licensure required.
• Must be a Federal Work Study student only.

Responsibilities

• Participate in weekly training sessions.
• Conduct introductory labs for two sections per week (26 students in each section).
• Hold office hours to assist students with solutions, experiment design, data collection, and data analysis.
• Help students arrive at correct solutions to given problems and support them in designing their own experiments.
• Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to teach the lab the following week.
