SAIC is seeking a Physics Based Simulation Software Acquisition Engineer to join the Air Force, Space and Intelligence Business Group, delivering systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government IC customer developing next‑gen space and ground systems.

The role serves as a SME for physics‑based modeling and simulation, including tools development for satellite system resiliency, as part of an on‑site SETA team, driving delivery of space protection

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s and 9+ years experience; Master’s 7+; PhD 4+ years in STEM fields.
  • Ability to communicate, coordinate, and engage customers independently.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, small team environment.

  • Clear and accurate written and verbal communication.
  • Familiarity with intelligence mission areas and key issues.
  • Experience with physics-based modeling and simulation techniques and tools.

  • Knowledge of intelligence production cycle and when to apply engineering judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Study and analyze problems in the Space domain as part of a collaborative team.
  • Identify Agile solutions and program epics with acceptance criteria and ensure alignment with government requirements.
  • Optimize pre‑increment planning and iterative demos following Agile best practices.
  • Assess developer performance via contract deliverables and oversee testing.
  • Analyze developer recommendations for software enhancements across cloud, on‑premises, and HPC environments.
  • Write statements of work for upcoming systems acquisitions.
  • Advise Government on contractor performance through cost, schedule, and performance analysis.

SAIC is seeking a Physics Based Simulation Software Acquisition Engineer to join the Air Force, Space and Intelligence Business Group providing systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer. The customer is developing the next generation of space and ground systems, architectures, and hardware and software solutions.


The Physics Based Simulation Software Acquisition Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) to support physics-based modeling and simulation efforts (including tools development) for satellite system resiliency. As a key member of our on-site SETA team, the position plays a vital role in contributing to delivery of space protection capabilities into operations.


The Physics Based Simulation Software Acquisition Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Work in a collaborative team environment studying and analyzing a wide variety of problems in the Space domain.

  • Identify Agile solution and program epics with acceptance criteria and ensure prime development and subcontractors align to government requirements.

  • Optimize pre-increment planning and iterative integration demos via Agile software development best practices.

  • Assess developer performance by analyzing contract deliverables for demonstrations and oversee testing for achieving pertinent objectives.

  • Analyze developer recommendations for software enhancements across cloud, on premises, and HPC environments.

  • Write Statements of Work for upcoming systems acquisitions

  • Advise Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) on developer performance through cost, schedule, and performance analysis and evaluation.

  • Identify risks and provide unique courses of action to solve complex technical problems.

  • Review contractor submissions for technical accuracy and provide government personnel detailed critical analysis.

  • Organize and execute tools demonstrations to the user community (one to two times per year).


Qualifications


Minimum:



  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

  • Bachelor’s and nine (9) years or more experience; master’s and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD and four (4) years or more experience in a STEM related field (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Computer Science or similar)

  • Possess the skill to communicate, coordinate, and engage customers independently.

  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and small team environment.

  • Able to operate successfully both independently and as a team-member.

  • Capability to communicate with clarity and accuracy both verbally and written.

  • Familiarity with the functional mission areas and key intelligence issues.


Desired:



  • Experience with physics-based modeling and simulation techniques and tools.

  • Experience with AI/ML applications.

  • Knowledge of intelligence production cycle, limitations, and when to apply engineering judgment.


Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
