Job description

Position Overview

Physics Adjunct (Summer and Fall 2026). Location: Spotsylvania, Virginia. Salary: $961–$1,997 per credit hour. The role requires teaching physics courses both in‑person and online.

Responsibilities
  • Teach specific physics classes in the designated discipline.
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
  • Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS.
  • Maintain current competence in physics.
Essential Functions

Provide quality instruction, meet assigned classes regularly, submit required records and reports, teach prescribed courses of study with established texts, and adhere to professional ethics in accordance with college policies, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in physics.
  • Ability to effectively teach in classroom and online.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use instructional technology.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.
Additional Considerations
  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Work experience in the field.
  • Experience with online teaching.
  • Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both synchronous and asynchronous environments at a regionally accredited institution.
Travel Requirement

May be required to travel to all campus locations.
