Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Responsibilities include teaching developmental and/or college-level courses, which may include distance-learning courses during the day and evening, on weekdays and weekends.

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. We are seeking to identify qualified and interested adjunct faculty members in the following teaching disciplines and/or subject areas: *PHYSICS

Primarily face-to-face with the possibility of remote instruction.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess expert skills, knowledge, experience and education in the subject area and a history of successful teaching or related experience.

Minimum Education Required- Master’s in Physics or a related field with 18 graduate hours in Physics to teach credit-level coursework

Additional Considerations

Two years teaching experience, work experience in the field, and experience with on-line teaching. Teaching experience in Physics. Knowledge of, and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
