Job summary

The START Center for Cancer Care in San Antonio, TX is seeking a professional medical physicist to provide radiation therapy physics services alongside radiation oncologists. You will design and modify treatment plans, evaluate prescriptions, and ensure equipment calibration and safety.

The role involves leading QA programs, training staff, conducting research on new equipment, and staying current with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of MS in Radiation Therapeutic Medical Physics; at least 6 months of experience related to duties and responsibilities specified herein.
• Texas State License in Therapeutic Medical Physics required.
• Board certification as Medical Physicist (ABR, ABM, or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs calibration checks, safety surveys and acceptance testing of linear accelerators and other radiation sources to ensure correct and consistent results.
• Develops, supervises, and maintains quality assurance programs throughout radiation therapy.
• Consults with radiation oncologists and staff concerning patient treatments and radiation safety.
• Trains and advises technical staff on new equipment and protocols.
• Lectures and trains other health professionals.
• Responds to problems and provides advice and technical assistance as needed.
• Researches new equipment developments and techniques, assessing impact on existing clinical practices.
• Updates knowledge of health and safety legislation and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Broad product knowledge in area of specialty and ability to develop purchasing specifications.
