Summary

North Florida/South Georgia (Lake City) VA Healthcare System's Urology Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Urologist. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. You must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.
• Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school.
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
• Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency in Urology, leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible for appointment as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Board Certification: Not generally required unless specified for supervisory or faculty roles.
• Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical, with ability to perform moderate lifting, walking, standing, and other physical activities as specified.

Duties

• This is an open continuous announcement, accepting applications ongoing until filled.
• Eligible applicants will be referred weekly until a selection is made.
• This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).

• We seek a board-certified Urologist to join the practice at Lake City, with travel to Gainesville, and an adjunct faculty position at the University of Florida.
• Responsibilities include clinical work, operative procedures, teaching residents, and participating in a robotics program.
• Call duties are shared among faculty, with shifts typically every 8-10 weeks.
• Supervision of mid-level providers is required.
• Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with potential for shift variations based on needs.
