Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only when recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
• Residency training approved by the VA, including ACGME, AOA, or equivalent programs with at least five years of practice in the U.S.
• Residents enrolled in approved programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who may be appointed on a limited basis and are not considered independent practitioners
• Proficiency in English
• Preferred: Fellowship-trained urologic oncologist at associate professor level or above with expertise in open and robotic surgery, including experience with advanced oncologic procedures
• Physical requirements: ability to perform all activities without restrictions, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting

Duties

• Perform both open and robotic surgeries as a fellowship-trained urologic oncologist at the associate professor level or above
• Perform advanced oncologic procedures such as post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, pelvic exenteration, and vena caval thrombectomy on cardiac bypass
• Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, with hours subject to change based on agency needs
