Job description

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic standards.

Basic Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible
• Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited school
• Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Completion of residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification
• For residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs, eligibility to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs)
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Preferred: Board certification or eligibility in Urologic Surgery
• Physical and mental capacity to perform duties, including examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and education

Duties

• Perform outpatient and inpatient urologic surgeries and examinations
• Serve as a consultant to staff and trainees
• Supervise and train residents and students as appropriate
• Participate in surgical quality initiatives and on-call duties
• Provide patient education and obtain informed consent
• Maintain timely documentation and reporting
• Collaborate with other medical staff and adhere to VA policies
• Maintain clinical privileges, licensure, and certification
