Job description

Summary

This position is located at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. It is within the Surgical Service and reports directly to the Section Chief of Urology.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if qualified citizens are unavailable
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school
• Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Completed residency training approved by the VA or equivalent
• English proficiency
• Preferred: Board certification or eligibility in Urology; fellowship preferred but not required

Duties

• Provide operative and non-operative urological care, including diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of genitourinary conditions
• Take call proportionate to other full-time urologists, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays
• Perform procedures such as biopsies, cystoscopies, vasectomies, and others listed
• Manage perioperative care and provide urologic care to all Veterans, including special populations
• Perform surgeries including laparoscopic, robotic, and open procedures
• Additional duties as assigned
