Job description

Summary

This position is located at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. It is within the Surgical Service and reports directly to the Section Chief of Urology.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or licensure completion applicants may be tentatively referred but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Existing VA physicians who met previous qualification standards at their initial appointment are considered to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• US Citizenship (non-citizens only if qualified citizens are unavailable)
• Medical Degree from an approved school
• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the US
• Completed residency training in an approved program
• English proficiency
• Preferred: Board certification or eligibility in Urology; Fellowship preferred but not required

Duties

• Provide operative and non-operative urology care, including diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of genitourinary conditions
• Take call proportionate to other Urologists, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays
• Perform procedures such as biopsies, cystoscopies, vasectomies, and surgeries including laparoscopic and robotic procedures
• Collaborate with medical team for comprehensive patient care
• Manage perioperative care and provide urologic care for all Veterans, including special populations
• Other duties as assigned
