Summary

The VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System is recruiting for a full-time Physician to perform Sleep Medicine duties in our Specialty Care Department. The VA Finger Lakes comprises two Medical Centers in Bath and Canandaigua, NY, and a large outpatient clinic in Rochester, NY. The Medical Centers are located in the scenic Finger Lakes region, and Rochester is a vibrant upstate city on Lake Ontario. Join our team today!

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial qualification standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable, per VA Policy.
• Degree: Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
• License: Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
• Residency: Completion of an approved residency in a core specialty leading to board eligibility.
• Additional qualifications for residents and PRPs are specified, including scope of practice and supervision details.
• Proficiency in English.
• Preferred Experience: Sleep Medicine and/or Pulmonary Medicine.
• Physical Requirements: As per VA Directive and Handbook 5019.

Duties

• This is an open continuous announcement; applications are accepted ongoing until the position is filled.
• The physician will work independently but under the supervision of the Chief of Medicine Service, providing guidance to nurse practitioners.
• Responsibilities include administrative tasks, program development, and serving as acting chief as needed.
• Core duties involve evaluating and managing patients with sleep disorders, interpreting laboratory tests, prescribing medications, and counseling patients.
• Additional duties include collaborating with respiratory therapists, managing PAP therapy, and educating patients about sleep health.
• Compensation includes a competitive salary, bonuses, paid time off, retirement options, insurance, licensure support, CME reimbursement, and malpractice coverage.
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
