The VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System is recruiting for a full-time Physician to perform Sleep Medicine duties in our Specialty Care Department. The VA Finger Lakes comprises two Medical Centers in Bath and Canandaigua, NY, and a large outpatient clinic in Rochester, NY. Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable
• Medical degree from an approved school
• Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Completed residency in an approved program leading to board eligibility
• Proficiency in English
• Preferred experience in Sleep or Pulmonary Medicine

Additional Notes: Residents in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who are fully licensed but under supervision.

Duties

• This is an open continuous announcement; applications are reviewed weekly until filled.
• The physician will work independently but under the supervision of the Chief - Medicine Service, providing guidance to nurse practitioners.
• Responsibilities include administrative duties, program development, and clinical management of sleep disordered breathing, including diagnosis, treatment, and patient education.
• Prescribe medications and devices, interpret tests, and collaborate with respiratory therapists.
• Engage in health promotion, disease prevention, and counseling related to sleep issues.
• Manage various PAP therapies, consider alternative treatments, and educate patients on their use.
