Job Summary
The physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of the health problems presented by the patients.
Essential Functions
- Develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with other Corewell Health personnel, and promote a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage. Demonstrate a commitment to service and distinctive, personalized care with both internal customers (coworkers, fellow employees, hospital staff, etc.) and external customers (patients, family members, referring physicians/specialists, etc.), while striving to exceed customer expectations.
- Assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals. Complete all competencies and organizational mandatories timely.
- Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients. Provide quality medical services in a cost-effective, appropriate manner, ensuring coverage of the caseload at all times.
- Communicate regularly with patients’ families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other hospital departments regarding the care plan and treatment, including within 24 hours of admission, for any major change, and within 24 hours prior to discharge. Document medical services in the patient’s record according to standards.
- Participate in on-call and weekend coverage as required. Engage in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives.
- Participate in Quality Improvement and peer review activities, and assist in developing policies related to medical practice and patient care.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements, support clinical trials, and assess safety and efficacy data as per policies.
- Provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship to fellows, residents, APPs, students, and others, including collaboration with medical schools.
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree required.
- Licensure as a Physician (MD) or Osteopathic Physician (DO) in Michigan upon hire.
- DEA registration in Michigan upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC within 120 days.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA within 120 days.
Physical Demands
- Seldom to occasionally lift weights ranging from 5 lbs to 50 lbs, perform standing, walking, and occasional bending, reaching, and handling tasks. Visual acuity seldom required.
