Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Radiologist to evaluate and manage imaging-based patient care. Responsibilities include referrals, documentation, and participation in academic activities within Radiology; on-call may be required. Onsite day shifts with tele-hybrid coverage apply.

Qualifications

• Licensed MD or DO with Alabama medical license.
• Board certification or eligibility in radiology.
• Experience with CT, US, MRI, PET and fluoroscopy procedures.
• LSA/ALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and treats patients with diagnostic and treatment skills.
• Aims to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care.
• Accepts referrals and acts as attending physician as needed.
• Participates in academic programs (education and research).
• Documents for insurance and appeals denials timely.
• Inpatient and outpatient consultation; may include on-call.

Responsibilities

Job Description

• Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
• Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
• Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
• Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
• Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
• Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.
  
  

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

• Licensed Graduate Doctoral Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.
