Duties

• The Radiation Oncologist at the Orlando VA Healthcare System is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients requiring radiotherapy.
• The duties include, but are not limited to: conducting medical histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning.
• Ability to comprehensively assess patients presenting with cancer and related diseases.
• Providing advanced radiation therapy to patients — including planning and delivery of radiation treatment.
• Ability to make informed decisions regarding patient care and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team — including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participating in the call rotation with other radiation oncologists.
• Utilizing tele‑medicine services to provide care to patients at Community‑Based Outpatient Clinics.
• Advising and counseling patients and their families regarding the implications of treatment, potential side effects, and prognosis.
• Ordering and interpreting appropriate imaging studies and laboratory tests to guide treatment.
• Providing ongoing outpatient and inpatient care for a diverse patient population.
• Prescribing and managing medications related to cancer treatment within the defined scope of practice.
• Offering education and support to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and a possible 5-day paid absence for CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5-year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 am-4:30 pm. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-On Bonus): Authorized — as determined by Facility/Agency.
