This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until May 16, 2025. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applicants will be March 31, 2025, with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until position is filled.
Duties
The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVACHS) is seeking a full-time Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine physician. If interested candidates are also trained in Sleep Medicine, there is abundant opportunity to utilize Sleep Medicine skills.
The provider will participate in outpatient clinic services including fellows' clinic, in the inpatient consult service and in the Medical ICU service. Commitment to excellence in patient care and an interest in teaching are essential. A record of contribution to the scientific literature is preferred.
SAVACHS is the principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Candidates must be eligible for a faculty appointment with the University of Arizona to facilitate teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
The Tucson VA is a tertiary care facility providing a full range of clinical services and has received awards for quality. The VA is in a growth phase, planning a new subspecialties clinic building.
The incumbent is expected to participate in quality improvement activities, ensure supervision and training of fellows, residents, and medical students, and maintain certifications. A commitment to VA and SAVAHCS regulatory compliance is required. VA research opportunities include protected time for investigators with VA Merit Review Awards.
