The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist for its Madison location. This position involves outpatient mental health and addictions treatment, as well as collaboration on educational programs aimed at ensuring optimal care for Veterans. Candidates will benefit from opportunities to engage in research and teaching, backed by a commitment to evidence-driven care, within an interdisciplinary team environment.
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
OUTPATIENT/GENERAL MENTAL HEALTH (GMH): This position involves working as part of a clinical team with responsibilities divided between program development, patient care, and educational programming, including collaboration with our nationally recognized inter-professional education program. Our GMH team emphasizes team-based, evidence-driven care, utilizing outcome measures to ensure optimal Veteran care. Educational and research opportunities are available for qualified applicants. If the physician has appropriate qualifications, they may receive a faculty appointment in the University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry.
ADDITIONS: The Madison VA employs an interdisciplinary team model for addictions treatment. The Psychiatrist in this role would be a core team member, providing outpatient mental health and addictions treatment. There are opportunities to teach and engage in research if desired. This role is ideal for physicians interested in evidence-based, interdisciplinary, Veteran-centered addictions care.

Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who meet previous qualification standards are deemed to meet basic requirements.
