Job summary

State of Franklin Healthcare Associates seeks a Hospitalist to provide in-house medical care at Johnso­n City, TN. The role includes obtaining histories, conducting exams, evaluating labs, diagnosing and treating, and prescribing medications in accordance with TN statutes.

The physician will supervise PAs/NPs, educate patients, document interventions, and maintain CME hours. A TN license and DEA cert are required, with board eligibility or certification preferred.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree and Residency completed as required.
• Board eligibility or board certification.
• Current State of TN Medical License and DEA certificate.

Responsibilities

• Obtain health history and perform physical examinations.
• Request/evaluate lab tests; diagnose and treat.
• Prescribe medications per state guidelines; arrange referrals.
• Educate patients and families on medications and instructions.
• Document all activities and supervise mid-level practitioners (PA/NP).
• Maintain CME hours and participate in patient care procedures.

• Obtain health history and perform physical examinations
• Request/Evaluate lab tests
• Diagnosis, direct treatment, and instruct staff in implementing care
• Prescribe medication in accordance with state statutes and professional practice guidelines
• Arrange referrals for services not offered within the practice
• Educate patients and families on medication and treatment instructions
• Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed
• Supervise mid-level practitioners (PA and NP)
• Patient procedures relevant to protocols and procedures
• Maintain Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours

The Physician must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree (M.D) or a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O), have completed residency and be Board Eligible or Board Certified with a current State of TN Medical License, DEA certificate, malpractice insurability and authority to provide medical services on behalf of all governmental and private insurers, health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, self-insured employers, hospitals and any other organizations with which the group contracts to provide health care services.
